To install the OptiFine Mod for Minecraft as a standalone configuration (without Minecraft Forge), make sure you're running the latest version of Minecraft and then upgrade to the most recent version if you aren't. Next, open the Minecraft Launcher, click the Launch Options tab, then select Latest Release. From there, click the "Game Directory" switch highlight the directory and then press Control + C (PC) or Command + C (Mac) to copy the installer directory URL. Close the Launcher, open your browser, and navigate to the official download page for OptiFine: https://optifine.net/downloads.php. Click the Download link, click Save or OK to begin the download, and then wait for a few seconds for the download process to finish. Double-click the downloaded file (which ends in .jar) to run the OptiFine installer. To paste the correct installer directory Press Control + V (PC or Mac) and Command + V (Mac). Then click Install, wait for the installation to finish and then click OK. To play the OptiFine version of Minecraft launch the Minecraft Launcher and click the arrow left of the PLAY button. Click on the OptiFine installer and click on PLAY. If you want to install the OptiFine Mod in Minecraft and you're running the Minecraft Forge mod already, the process is slightly different. Start by making sure you're running the newest version of Minecraft and then update to the most recent version if you're not. Next, open your web browser and navigate to the official download page for OptiFine: https://optifine.net/downloads.php. Click the Download link and select Save or OK to start the download. Wait a few seconds for it to finish. Then, open the Minecraft mods folder. Copy the OptiFine.jar file you downloaded by pressing Control + C on a Mac or PC. Right-click (or Control + click) the blank space inside of the mods folder and select Paste to paste the OptiFine .jar file into your mods folder. Minecraftservers Now OptiFine can be used with Minecraft Forge. To play the game, launch the Minecraft Launcher and click the arrow next to PLAY. Click forge and then click PLAY.
