Minecraft Jungle Biomes Explained

Jungles are one of the largest and most diverse biomes in Minecraft. Here's how you can find the Jungle in Minecraft and what you can expect when you get there.

This article applies to all Minecraft versions that include Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

How to Find a Jungle in Minecraft

Jungles are a rare thing in Minecraft. Jungles like all biomes in Minecraft are not confined to a specific place of origin. However they are more likely to occur near Savannas and Mesas than Desert biomes. The large number of tall trees that make up Jungles makes them immediately visible. These trees will almost completely cover the roof of the Jungle with their leaves.

You can pinpoint the exact coordinates of Jungle biomes by using an external tool called Biome Finder.

Jungle Trees

Jungle trees can reach 30 blocks in height and can be climbed by players using vines. The biggest Jungle trees are built with four blocks that extend upwards, allowing you to get 120 blocks of wood from one tree. The base of a jungle tree is a good base for constructing an arboretum.

When the tree's Jungle Wood has been refined and transformed into Jungle Wood Planks, the wood is a light pinkish-red color. The most distinctive feature of the Jungle Wood Planks is their color. They can be made into various tools and products, just like all Planks. You can also make color variations for things like Doors, Boats, and Stairs.

Jungle Types

Jungles biomes come in different variations:

- Regular Jungle - Jungle Hills

- Jungle Edge

- Bamboo Jungles

While regular Jungle biomes are dangerous, Jungle Hills are even more dangerous. It is recommended to stay on the ground in the Jungle Hill until you can find an option to keep your body safe in the air. In the Edge variants of the Jungle biome, the trees are smaller and farther away. Bamboo Jungles are mini-biomes which occur within regular Jungles where the trees are smaller and you are more likely to see pandas.

Jungle Ocelots

Ocelots are only obtainable in the Jungle biome. Ocelots can be hard to locate due to the denseness of the trees and bushes. However they are well worth the effort to locate as they will scare off Minecraft Creepers who try to sneak up on them.

To capture an Ocelot Begin slowly approaching the animal with an uncooked fish. Once the mob has noticed your presence and doesn't flee then stop and remain where you are. Allow the Ocelots to approach you, and then feed them to gain their trust.

Jungle Temples

In certain Jungle biomes, you can discover mysterious structures made of Mossy Cobblestone or Chiseled Stone Bricks. These Jungle Temples are filled with traps as well as treasure, puzzles and much more. You can find items like a Arrows and Bones, as well as rotten Flesh and Saddles.

Jungle Plants

Cocoa plants are exclusive to the Jungle biome and grow on the sides of Jungle Trees. The Cocoa plant comes in three forms: a small green form and a medium-sized yellow-orange form, and a ready-to-harvest dark orange-brown type. Harvested Cocoa can be used in making recipes for food items, changing the color of products and other items. Cocoa Beans cannot be placed on Jungle Wood. If you plan to bring it out from the Jungle to start an agricultural enterprise, ensure you have Jungle Wood.
