Doom meets Age of Empires Heck yeah!

Id Software's legendary Doom is available in many different ways including Minecraft, crabs and in an article we wrote. Age of Empires 2 can be added to the list of games. A modder has created a complete strategy campaign based upon Doom which includes the legendary sound effects from the FPS and sprites.
'Age of Doom"Age of Doom" was created by modder "HellKnight61" (thanks, DSOGaming) and is a complete custom campaign for Age of Empires 2 that revisits the events from the original Doom's story - mostly in the style of Doom 3, with the escape from Hell by the demons, orchestrated by Dr. Betruger, although characters from later Doom games like Vega do appear.
ModDB is the mod available at ModDB. Version 1.0 was released this week. Even though it's missing the final episode, the mod still contains four episodes and the tutorial. HellKnight61 has added a variety of features to make it play more Doom-like than Age of Empires, including the capability for the Doom marine to flick switches, use teleporters, and even sprint.
The Doom guy has all the classic weapons of Doom, up to the BFG or Doom 3's Soul Cube. All the monsters are there and some contain sound effects taken from various games. It's basically Doom as an isometric strategy-shooter through an Age of Empires lens, and it's a stunning piece of work.
Both the Doom and Age of Empires franchises are still in good shape, despite having their debuts in the 1990s. Age of Empires 4 is out on the horizon for next month, and it might be getting another beta before then. Doom Eternal, which was released in the year before is currently being improved and there could be more stories to tell about the Doom Slayer.
