To install the OptiFine Mod for Minecraft as standalone configuration (without Minecraft Forge), ensure that you're running the newest version of Minecraft and then upgrade to the most recent version if you aren't. Then, open the Minecraft Launcher, click the Launch Options tab, then select Latest Release. From there, click the "Game Directory" switch, highlight the directory, and then press Control + C (PC) or Command + C (Mac) to copy the installer directory URL. Dj w360 Close the Launcher, open your browser, and navigate to the official download page for OptiFine: https://optifine.net/downloads.php. Click the Download link, then click Save or OK to begin the download, and then wait several seconds for the download process to finish. Double-click the downloaded file (which ends in .jar) to run the OptiFine installer. To copy the correct installer directory by pressing Control + V (PC or Mac) and Command + V (Mac). Then, click Install and wait for the installation process to be completed. Click on the OptiFine installer and then click PLAY. If you're planning to install the OptiFine mod for Minecraft and you're running the Minecraft Forge mod already, the process is slightly different. Make sure that you're running the most recent version of Minecraft and then update to the most current version if you aren't. Next, open your web browser and navigate to the official download page for OptiFine: https://optifine.net/downloads.php. Click the Download link, click Save or OK to start the download, then wait several minutes for the download to end. Then, open the Minecraft mods folder. Copy the OptiFine.jar file you downloaded by pressing Control + C on a Mac or PC. Right-click (or Control + click) the blank space inside of the mods folder and select Paste to paste the OptiFine .jar file into your mods folder. Now OptiFine can be used with Minecraft Forge.
