Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Hands On

The Warcraft universe is a huge hit with millions of players around the world. It's not too surprising that Blizzard is expecting big things from Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft, the game that is digitally played. The company recently turned its hand to James Cullinane.



The gaming industry appears to be no less prone to synchronicity than other creative endeavor. Everyone has reached the same conclusion: the digital collectible cards are coming at the perfect time. While we used to be limited to the walls of the annual Magic: The Gathering videogames and now, in addition to the numerous Kickstarters, we have Scrolls, the next game developed by Minecraft studio Mojang and Hearthstone which is a collectible cards game from Blizzard.



Hearthstone is a card game that is based on the hugely popular Warcraft universe. The idea behind the game is that the heroes gather in one of Warcraft's many inns to rest and play friendly competition. The game has similarities to World of Warcraft's vibrant colors and a cartoonish aesthetic. The game lets players choose from nine decks or heroes based on World of Warcraft's classes and each with a different kind of gameplay.



Every player is given a set of cards that includes creatures, items, and spells. These cards are all built around the Warcraft universe. Players can play cards depending on their casting values and mana crystals. Hearthstone is, unlike other collectible card games does not focus on the management of resources. Instead, players will receive one additional mana crystal per round, and it replenishes each round.



Each class has a unique ability that players can use or cast every turn. For instance, the warlock has life tap which allows the player to trade two health for a different card, while the priest is able to cast +2 health on any of his creatures, or himself. Heroes can also carry weapons to take on their adversaries directly.



Players can't designate an entity that blocks an attacking unit. Creatures that have Taunt must be attacked and killed first, or else it's an open-for-all. Creatures are able to ignore opponent's creatures completely and strike the opponent directly. This significantly increases the speed with the speed at which a Hearthstone hand can be played.



It means Hearthstone is easy to learn and understand however, it is also fast-growing.



While Hearthstone's gameplay has peculiarities that distinguish it from other digital (or digitised) games of cards the place where it stands out is in the accumulation of cards, deck-building, and creation. Players can complete simple daily tasks for which they'll receive booster packs, or can simply be purchased.



Hearthstone is designed to recreate the excitement that can be felt when opening a booster pack of cards. Each pack contains a random selection of cards, but players are guaranteed to get at least one card that is rare or better.



All cards can be discarded to craft new and powerful cards that the player might require for a specific deck they're creating. This innovative design is compatible with the Warcraft universe and can only be done in a fully digital game.



It's easy to lose track of the time when playing Hearthstone. LIBERTYCM Hearthstone's approachable aesthetic and simple rule set make it less intimidating than other collectible cards games. However, it also hides the real strategic depth. Anyone who has played StarCraft II will also recognise that Blizzard's matchmaking capabilities on Battle.net are among the best and, once the game goes live, it's very unlikely that players will be matched with opponents that they have no chance against. In addition, Hearthstone's boost pack system, crafting and deck building are already being put together into an entire package that will be a step above the rest of the pack.
