트위치는 5월3일 개막하는 ‘2021 신한은행 SOL KBO리그(이하 KBO리그)를 생중계한다고 26일 밝혀졌다. 아프리카TV는 이번년도를 실시으로 KBO리그를 3년간 생중계 할 계획이다.
이번 KBO리그는 미국 프로야구 마이너리그 텍사스레인저스 생활을 마치고 SSG랜더스에 합류한 추신수와 MLB에서 활동했던 삼성라이온즈 오승환, 롯데자이언츠 이대호 등의 맞대결에 주목이 쏠린다.
1인 미디어로 즐기는 스포츠 중계만의 매력을 느낄 수 있는 아프리카TV 편파 중계 BJ들의 생중계도 진행된다.
우선 BJ ‘캐스터안과 ‘테디윤이 각각 LG트윈스와 KT위즈의 경기를 중계한다. ‘캐스터안은 2001년 'LG트윈스' 공식 캐스터로 입사해 편파 중계를 시작한 BJ다. ‘테디윤은 야구 통계 분석 기법 '세이버메트릭스(Sabermetrics)'에 기반해 선수와 팀에 대한 상세 분석 정보를 공급하는 전문성 있는 중계를 한다.
K팝 KIA타이거즈 편파 중계를 진행하는 ‘소대수캐스터와 전 야구 국가대표 출신의 ‘안지만, 롯데자이언츠 편파 BJ ‘서정민코치, SSG랜더스 편파 BJ ‘철이형 등을 배합한 약 90명의 편파 중계 BJ들이 독특한 중계 문화를 대비하고 있다.
트위치 이민원 소셜미디어사업부문장은 “해외 야구 팬들이 기다려온 2021 KBO리그를 시행으로, 앞으로 4년동안 KBO리그 생스트리밍 서비스를 이어나갈 있게 돼 기쁘다”며 “향후에도 BJ와 , 스포츠 팬들이 함께 만들어나가는 1인 미디어 스포츠 중계 문화를 발전시키기 위해 더욱 다양한 지원과 노력을 아끼지 않겠다”고 전했다.
