Minecraft's ray tracing feature for Windows 10 has made its debut in beta for eight months following the feature was first made accessible to testers. The look and feel of the sandbox game has been transformed by the addition of the ability to trace rays to NVIDIA's RTX graphic cards. As we said in our hands-on post earlier this year the realistic lighting, reflections and shadows the feature brings make Minecraft feel more immersive. While the game is unreal, the in-game lighting is real-looking. Shadows and reflections can make it feel like you're actually there.
You will be able to see the benefits of ray-tracing in the game if are playing on a computer equipped with one of NVIDIA GPUs that are capable of ray tracing. Only worlds and maps that use a physical-based texture pack will see the benefits. You don't need to do anything, as it's already enabled by default. Other players who don't have access to this feature will see the worlds with normal visuals.
In its announcement, NVIDIA says ray tracing is more demanding on your GPU, which is why it utilizes its DLSS AI rendering technology to ensure that Minecraft with RTX can continue to run with at least 60 FPS at 1920x1080. LIFE The most advanced GPU models (RTX 3080 and 3090) can play the game at 4K with over 60FPS.
You can download worlds you can play with Ray Tracing on the Marketplace or create your own using help from NVIDIA's starter pack in case you require it. Minecraft and NVIDIA are also offering two new worlds for free: Colosseum RTX is already available, and Dungeon Dash RTX is coming very soon.
