Cristina Did you experience odd or funny situations while playing VR in Minecraft?
Damian: Does Covid-19 count as a controlled substance? In March, the entire team had to make the quick move to working at home, but we did it with little upheaval. It helped us all focus on the work that we had to focus on. This was like a small bit of normality in a constantly changing and complex world.
Rog: This is not surprising however VR makes the experience more real. Things like gravel falling down on you seem so real that you leap out of the way (and then fall over).
Cristina: What's your most favorite thing to do during the game?
Damian: Flying is something I really enjoy. The elytra in 3D gives a real sense of freedom. It's also enjoyable to fly through the sky and look down at your world.
Rog: He does really enjoy flying! I think it just amplifies the experiences I'm already a fan of. Cave exploration is more enjoyable than ever before. Who needs daylight? !
Cristina What are the mobs that you fear most in VR?
Damian: Calling me old-fashioned but I find encountering Creepers to be terrifying. You'll be terrified if you add VR to the mix.
Rog: Yes, those things... Creepers !!!! https://hanmayou.com/ It can be quite surprising to hear an arrow whizz by you, even if you've never seen the nearby skeleton(s).
Cristina: Which biomes do you consider to be the coolest?
Damian: Swimming underwater in VR mode is a great way to experience the excitement of the whole. A warm ocean biome is my favourite. Swimming with dolphins or deep diving down to the wreck of a ship is great fun. It's like going on holiday... but without all the sand sticking to your suncream!
Rog: Jungle! It's an amazing scene in VR, with huge trees and parrots soaring around and pigs hopping around the branches.
This sounds like a perfect vacation! Special thanks to Damian and Rog for demonstrating how much fun Minecraft in VR is better than I could ever imagine. In all honesty I'm unable to help but notice the utter lack of fab sights around me - time to find out how high I can go in VR without falling over.
