Minecraft 1.18 Release Date: What's Coming with Caves And Cliffs Part 2?

What's in store for Minecraft 1.18 and when will it be released? Together, 1.17 and 1.18 form the massive Caves and Cliffs update. This update will forever change Minecraft's world with amazing new blocks, new resources and amazing changes to the world generation. All of which we'll be discussing below.



Here's what you can expect from Caves and Cliffs Part 2 as well as the latest news on the Minecraft 1.18 release date.



Minecraft 1.18 will be released for Java and Bedrock editions on November 30, according to Minecraft.net. This update is part 2 of the Caves & Cliffs update. 1.17 was originally scheduled to be released as a complete package. But Mojang decided to divide Caves and Cliffs across two major updates to allow them more time to work on the huge changes these updates will bring to Minecraft.



And I mean massive. Caves and Cliffs Part 1 introduced more than 90 new block types, new creatures like Glow Squids, Goats and Axolotls, and new tools such as Lightning Rods and Spyglasses. Caves and Cliffs part 2 will completely alter Minecraft's terrain generation and populate the deepest levels with a myriad of new resources and strange objects. Let's take an overview of the Minecraft 1.18 update features.



Terrain changes: exploring below Y=0



Minecraft 1.18 is being redesigned. It will be possible for the first time to dig below the Y Level 0.



The new depth is -64. Below the Y=0 mark, you'll find yourself in what's called the "Deepslate Layer" in which stones are transformed into deepslate blocks. This is also true for veins of ore: you'll find copper, gold, iron redstone, and the like in deepslate veins once you're below the value of Y=0.



You'll find all sorts of amazing cave structures that have been added to 1.18 due to the brand new underground terrain generation changes. The Caves and Cliffs changes were to include the brand-new Deep Dark biome, but this biome, along with its perilous denizen, the Warden has been delayed because of Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update.

The towering mountains



Minecraft 1.18 is currently being revamped. The mountains are now created in a different manner. minecraftservers Instead of having just one or two "extreme hills" or "mountain" biomes There are five new sub-biomes that comprise the various layers within each mountain.



Mountain Meadow (Y=100-140), is home to flowers and sweet berry bushes and Mountain Grove (Y=110–140),: snowy, home for rabbits and polar bears. - Snowy Slopes (Y=140-170): snowy and icy, home to goats. Lofty Peaks (Y=170+): high peaks of snow, stone, and ice. - Snow Capped Peaks: Similar to Lofty Peaks but cold enough to make Packed Ice.



Pay attention to the Y-Levels and you'll notice that 1.18 increases the maximum height of mountains. They were capped at 140 Y, but are now able to reach Y=255. This is a great option for castles and towers on tops of mountains.



However there is a chance that not all mountains will be as tall as this. Only the tallest mountains will have the new Lofty Peaks or Snow Capped Peaks biomes. These new terrain changes will bring a new zeal to exploration and discovery to any 1.18 Minecraft world. Biomes of Dripstone Cave and Lush Cave



Caves and Cliffs part 2, which is diving back below the ground, brings two more cave types: The Lush Cave and Dripstone Cave.



Lush Caves are caves that are temperate filled with moss, vines and other exotic flora such as Glow Berries Spore Blossoms, Azalea trees and roots and dripleaf: a brand new type of block that can only support a person's weight for a short period before tipping and falling backwards, allowing the player to fall. It sounds like Lush Caves will be ideal locations for parkour. I'm eagerly awaiting the best Minecraft shader pack to show me these gorgeous caves.



Dripstone Caves are, predictably, home to the new Dripstone blocks that naturally expand through the process of dropping to create organic-looking stalagmites and stalactites. Apart from this amazing terrain feature Dripstone Caves function identical to any other cave however they'll be sought-after for the dripstone.



What are the other features mentioned in Caves and Cliffs Part 2?



A number of notable additions that were originally scheduled to be released in Minecraft 1.18 were delayed. They will be arriving to us in Minecraft 1.19 at the most recent. It is expected to release in 2022 or so. This includes the Warden Sculk Blocks, the Deep Dark biome, the Deep Dark biome, and Sculk Blocks.



It's been confirmed that at least three of those delayed features (namely Bundles and Archaeology) aren't included with the Wild Update. However, the Minecraft team is trying to ensure that none of these features are being canceled. This is a bleak news for those who were most excited about these changes. However, we will soon be able to explore the vast changes to terrain that Minecraft 1.18 will bring.
