Di dalam rasi bintang Leo,ada sebuah bintang dengan magnitudo 1 bernama Regulus.
Hercules mempunyai kekuatan luar biasa,karena ayahnya adalah Zeus dan ibunya seorang manusia biasa. Pada suatu hari,singa Nemea datang ke Yunani dan membunuh orang-orang untuk dijadikan santapannya. Raja Euriteus yang melihat kejadian tersebut,segera memerintahkan Hercules untuk membunuh singa Nemea. Hercules berkelahi dengan semua senjata yang ia miliki. Tetapi sayangnya tidak mempan,karena singa tersebut kebal dengan senjata. Akhirnya Hercules mengandalkan kedua tangannya dan bergulat sampai akhirnya singa Nemea berhasil terbunuh. Hercules berhasil memenangkan pertarungan dan menyelesaikan tugasnya.
Ia menguliti singa yang mati itu dan mengenakannya sebagai pelindung tubuhnya. Untuk mengingat terus akan jasa Hercules,Zeus mengirim jiwa singa Nemea ke atas langit.
