Towns popping out of nowhere, new magic appearing every day, ancient civilizations sprouting out of bare ground. Whispers ride on his thoughts as he sits at the edge of the Void, the strange section in the world that just disappeared one day. Some people celebrated it. Scaffolding balances on a thin bridge across the bottom of the hole in the world, the faint structure of a building not yet built. He turns away, spines bristling as he tries to rid a thought from his mind.
"The overworld is thinner here. It'd be so easy to let me through."
Connor pulls a notebook out of his pocket, scratches the words onto the page. He's never been able to make sense of speech, but writing comes easier to him. Fingers trace the indents left in the page from pressing down too hard with the pen. It wastes ink, but there's many people happy to give the dripping black sacs away. Too many people willing to give everything away. Like Connor, maybe, and the way he's trying so hard to bring the sheep into this world.
"It's only right."
