"Valheim" Surpasses 5.7 Million Copies in Just five Weeks On Steam Early Access

Valheim launched on Steam exactly five weeks ago, and has been on fire since then. Iron Gate's Viking survival simulator soared to the top of the charts with 5 million copies sold in just a month Early Access. It also surpasses Dota 2 in terms concurrent active players.

"We're doing our best," Iron Gate co-founder Henrik Tornqvist told Engadget. "It has been quite chaotic since we launched."



Tornqvist, Richard Svensson, the studio founder, are looking to hire a few additional people to help with the influx of bug reports that are coming from thousands of beta testers. In addition, the studio is receiving assistance from Coffee Stain Publishing - the people behind Goat Simulator, a veritable grandpa of viral video games.



Svensson began working on Valheim in the year 2017 as an additional source of income. By day the two of them Tornqvist were colleagues at Swedish studio Pieces Interactive, but by early 2018 Svensson had left to concentrate fully on Valheim.
