Augmented reality mobile game Minecraft Earth is shutting down in June the developer Mojang Studios announced this morning.

"Minecraft Earth was built around free movement and collaborative playing-two things that are nearly impossible in the current global environment," the official announcement states. "As a result, we have made the difficult decision of re-allocating our resources to other areas that offer benefit to the Minecraft community, and to stop support for Minecraft Earth in June 2021."
As a game that revolves around exploring the world, it appears Minecraft Earth didn't fare well during the ongoing covid-19 pandemic which has stopped potential players from playing in public. The game isn't playing at ease into the night. Today's update will remove real-money transactions. This will make it easier to play the game and keep you safe indoors. Additionally, anyone who registers on Minecraft Earth between now and June 30 will get an unbeatable set of character creator items.
After June 30, Minecraft players will be unable to download or play Minecraft Earth. Mojang has said it will provide everyone who made real-money purchases a free copy of Minecraft as its way of saying thank you.
