What is that What's it About, and what's the Story on it?

You keep mentioning and linking this Hololive and related stuff. I'm on. What's the problem? MINECRAFT SERVERS And what's the background? A personal background perspective might help. I spend long hours alone at home at my desk, sometimes late at night, and find that having something playing on the second monitor can help prevent me from getting even more distracted and wasting my time on Twitter or any other social media site.



For several years I was a faithful listener to numerous podcasts, such as networks like This Week in Tech or The Incomparable. As we approached 2020 the majority of the podcasts I was listening to was becoming unpleasantly politically. I'm not talking about technology or geek topics. The same things that had wrecked Twitter in 2018.



However, around the time, this was mentioned in my recommendations on YouTube the only time Google has done anything right since around 2013.



It's only a 20-second video, but it was enough to make me think What do you think? and take a deeper look. And then I found there's no escape from the rabbit hole.



This is Hololive:



Yes, there's many of them. (This is seven videos that were edited together by a fan. This explains why certain transitions aren't perfect.



In essence, Hololive is an international 24-hour all-girl comedy channel. Unwoken, non-politically correct, and irreverent. They even have their own Bugs Bunny characters and you can watch her for a couple of seconds in that video. Her name is Usada Perkora and she has 1.8million YouTube subscribers.



They dance, they sing live - they perform in concerts that use full motion tracking as well as 3D models. They draw at least two successful commercial artists, they play an awful lot of Minecraft, and they do not take shit from anyone.



The background of Hololive is also fascinating. The parent company Cover Corp was working on a new AR device, which replaced expensive motion tracking with a regular iPhone and a clever program but they weren't having a lot of success making it into the market.



In 2017, two Japanese students fresh out of high school approached them and stated that what they needed was their own virtual spokeswoman. One of them is Tokino Sora with more than 900,000 subscribers. The other is referred to as A-chan and is an executive manager who oversees activities across the entire company.



The pivot was a huge success , and Hololive has turned into an investment bank. Their smallest channel - and they have dozens of channels - has around 300,000 subscribers, and the largest is in the vicinity of 4 million.



Many people are tired of hypocritical woke crap and need entertainers who are sincere. They have enough distance to be able to use the 2D characters and stage names, and also an extremely strict policy of privacy protection for their company, that they don’t need any excuses.



They aren't explicitly political but in this day and time, it is an important political statement.

Okay, so she's a bit of a ditz on some things. However, she can hold both sides of a conversation for four hours at a time, all day, without repeating herself and in the majority of part, while doing three other things at the same time It's an amazing feat.
