Pugnacious Priest's Warcraft Blog

There are enough tools available to do some basic investigation regarding a player's application for your guild. It is all dependent on how thorough and serious a guild is about selecting applicants beyond a written application an interview, the trial period. One tool is Warcraft Realms. In the event that it is available, it will give you specific questions you can ask someone. E.g. You have been in 10 different guilds since you turned 70. What was your reason for going? The application might not include all the guilds they've been in, but some guilds start and fall and disband, and rename ect and so should not be used as an indicator of a bad person for your guild... however, it can be useful to spot inconsistencies, or give you questions to ask

All you need is the players name and the realm. Warcraft Realms gives you a full guild history, as well as usual disclaimers regarding the security of your armory.

You can search for the name of the character to find the realms that Name is found on. Click on the toon and find the appropriate realm, class, and race.

My profile shows First Sight December 31st, 2006 (When I reached level 9). Last Seen Aug 02 08 (most recent Armory refresh).

Then it gives you the background of your guild.

What does this say about my toon? I was in the same guild from 15 - 65 - so it was a leveling guild that I did not raid prior to the Burning crusade.. I wasn't at a high enough level at 66, so I left my home guild and remained in one guild for over a month , at 70. I was in a guild for six months before I left for a guild I stayed in for over 1 month and I've been with my current guild since March of this year

Conclusions - Ignoring the pre 70 years and only looking at post BC raiding content. I've been 70+ for a full year and have had the privilege to meet Kara, ZA and TK as well as SSC, BT Hjyal and Sunwell. But that doesn't mean I have though . I have a fairly stable guild history, which means I don't jump guilds every month since 70. I've been in three guilds for raiding. (A Wow Jutsu Search will inform you about individual progress for each guild and thus give an amount of weight to the experience gained from raiding as in my application). I quit one guild after over one month and was in two guilds for about a month. If the three guilds I mentioned were not listed on my application as previous guilds , I would like to know why?

Recently, I looked at someone who quit our guild. I had observed that he had guild hopped around all of the top raiding guilds on the server in a relatively short time. He did not quit our guild on the best of terms, and I'm not certain about the others but to any other guilds he applies for the instability of his character suggests that he doesn't have an excellent track record of staying around.. while maybe its not enough to disqualify him but it is something to think about and then weigh it against other aspects of your assessment.

One sign that a player has transferred to one of the servers is the absence of guild history on Warcraft realms. This means that they show up on the server at level 70. Gametolia It is easy for those with a bad name, to change servers and change their names. However, Wow Progress, an armor crawler tool, has the ability to detect you to monitor server transfers. While it only covers May 11 this year, it's an excellent place to start when you're not certain.
