Avanos Medical and FDA issued a Class 1 recall of 629 CORTRAK*2 enteral access system, which is a feeding tube placement device linked to many incidents of injury and death.

The recall is used to change the label of the device, which will instruct users to ensure that the tube is placed correctly before delivering nutrition.
According to FDA adverse events, they include respiratory failure and pneumothorax (collapsed lung), perforation [a hole in the bowel or wall of the lungor bowel of the lung (a lung infection) and the pleural effusion (excess fluid in the lung space and your chest cavity).
