As compared to Lego Creator, Minecraft relied solely on a absolute hard-wired fixed grid, meaning blocks and other objects could be placed only on the exact integer coordinates the grid itself had a predetermined. This method was commonly used in games like SimCity, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and Sim Theme Park, among others. Minecraft had taken that system from those past games, leading to the block grid system we recognize today. The grid that was hard-wired had a side effect in that only one tile or block could be placed at any specific location at a certain time. This was due to the coordinate's information was absorbed by the block or tile instead of the empty data, which is air that was previously present. Therefore, since that co-ordinate's data was absorbed by the tile itself, for instance it is not possible to put more than one torch in the same spot as the first one. This, in addition to other factors, leads to major problems that we will examine in the next section.
