The Blog Post was Published On Wednesday

According to a blog post posted on Wednesday, Mojang Studios has taken an uncompromising position on blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Mojang is well known for creating the most popular game of all time Minecraft which is a three-dimensional (3D) sandbox game with no goals.

To the present Mojang has sold over 238 million copies of Minecraft and no other video game has sold more copies. Minecraft's sales are followed by top sellers like Grand Theft Auto V (165M copies), Tetris (100M copies), and Wii Sports (82.9M copies).

The blog post, which was published on Wednesday it states that Minecraft won't be using blockchain technology or NFTs. The Minecraft creators are convinced that "all players should have access to the same functions" and "everyone has access to the same content."

Utilizing NFTs could be incompatible with the company's values, since NFTs could "create models of exclusion and scarcity that are in conflict with the guidelines of the company] and the spirit of Minecraft." The company gives a variety of reasons, including the fact that there are too many blockchains issuing NFTs, "some third-party NFTs are not reliable," and NFTs have been "sold at a price that is artificial orfraudulently high prices."

"As such to ensure that Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technology is not allowed to be used within our Minecraft server and client applications, nor can they be used to create NFTs with any in-game content, including worlds persona items, skins or any other mods," Mojang's blog post explains. The Stockholm-based video game developer said:

We will also be keeping an eye on how blockchain technology evolves over time to ensure the principles mentioned above are not violated and determine if it can allow for more secure gaming or other useful and inclusive applications. We have no plans to integrate blockchain technology into Minecraft at the moment.

Mojang Will Not Follow Heavy Weight Game Software Developers Like Square Enix, Konami, Ubisoft - Minecraft Creator Believes 'Speculative Pricing and Investment Mentality takes the fun away From Playing the Game

Mojang's decision comes at a time where companies such as Ubisoft, Square Enix, and Konami have all launched NFT implementations of some kind or different. At the end of 2021, Ubisoft and GSC Game World were hit with criticism over NFT inclusion.

The flak the companies got was so severe that GSC Game World decided to stop production of the NFT elements that were planned for the game Stalker 2. However, a senior executive at Ubisoft, Nicolas Pouard, told the media that he believes gamers aren't interested in NFTs because they don't know the benefits of this technology.

Konami announced in February that it would continue to issue NFTs to safeguard the company's content. Extremecraft Additionally, Square Enix participated in an investment round of 35 million for the fintech and bitcoin payment processor Zebedee. The Hoboken, New Jersey-based company Zebedee is a specialist in the integration of bitcoin payments into games.

Mojang does not want to have anything to do with blockchains or NFTs since it is an all-inclusive game. "The speculation about the price and investment mindset around NFTs diverts attention from the game and encourages profiteering that we believe is inconsistent with the long-term enjoyment and the success of our players," Mojang concluded on Wednesday.
