Minecraft's silent landscaper Steve is leaving his solitary world and stepping into Telltale's world of stories: Minecraft is getting a "narrative-driven" game from the folks behind The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Like other Telltale games, Minecraft: Story Mode will be episodic and will be available across a range of platforms once it launches "some time in 2015." Despite the acquisition, it appears that Microsoft's commitment to keep Minecraft multiplatform is still in place.
Telltale describes the game as a collaboration with Mojang and says that it won't exist as an attachment for Minecraft. Instead it will be a separate series "driven by player preference." Both Mojang and Telltale point out that they're working with the community on the development of the story and Mojang specifically states "We're not planning on creating an 'official' story for Steve (the main character in Minecraftor describing the world of Minecraft in detail."
There are no videos or images of the game in action yet, but we're expecting the same distinct art style like the style of Minecraft.
