The best way to study Japanese on your own
If you're a new Japanese learner asking yourself the same question: can I really learn Japanese on my own?, don't worry, you're not alone. My first impression of it was that it was impossible for anyone to learn one of the most difficult languages on their own without a teacher.

Having graduated from college, I challenged myself with this tough goal, and I was able to achieve it (in some measure). Despite specializing in Japanese for over a year, I managed to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level N2 after only 1 year of self-studying. Let me first tell you exactly how I learned Japanese by myself and passed the JLPT N2 with a score of 97 / 180 (90 is the passing mark).

I think remembering the hiragana and katakana charts is the easy part, but learning 2000 Kanji characters is the harder part. During the first month of my 1-year journal, I decided to temporarily omit learning Kanji because it gave me headaches. Why don't Japanese use only hiragana in their writing system, like Koreans do? Everyone would benefit from that. Kanji was extremely hated when I was young, but later I completely fell in love with it.

There is a famous book by Heisig called Remembering the Kanji. The book saves Japanese students time and effort in learning the Kanji. By creating a story or image for each Kanji, you become aware of them so that you don't forget them. Despite the fact that there are hundreds of books available that teach Chinese characters, there is no guarantee that this book will be effective for everyone or that you will become an expert after using it.

There are some downsides to this book, including that you cannot get the on and kun reading for the characters. We can easily learn to read the characters somewhere else, so the author wants to show us how to remember them the best. You shouldn't have too much trouble googling the on and kun reading of each character if you're a serious learner.

By writing as many sentences and short essays as you can, you will become familiar with writing the Kanji. You will finally remember the word if you use it repeatedly in different sentences. If you typed your sentences, you should ask someone to correct the grammatical errors for you.

In audio, video, and pdf formats, they have thousands of lessons. Blog For Pet Lover contained in this website are probably the most comprehensive you will find online. There are four main categories of lessons: Absolute beginner, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Categories are divided into seasons, and each season consists of 20 or more lessons. If you want to learn offline, you can download the pdf and mp3 files from the website.
