Since everyone knows that Minecraft's earned a whopping $33 million in the past, Notch has taken it on himself to, in the fashion of a rock star create rain. Notch announced that Minecraft beta update 1.5 will bring precipitation to the game in a series tweets today. This could have game-play implications, such as watering crops and lighting fires, filling small holes, and moistening the wolves. In addition, "Moistening Wolves" is the full name of our brand new indie noise-rock group.
Notch included a photo of the weather effects at the boundary of two in-game biomes, displaying the fantasy world where distinct rain and snow systems can play together and have fun. We called up our local meteorologist to inquire whether this was a real phenomenon that could happen in real life, and he exploded.
