The first pre-release for 1.16.4 is officially out!
If you've been on the Internet for a while you've probably noticed you occasionally run into other players that you don't get along with. We're adding an UI element called "social interactions screen" which will allow you to disable chatting with specific users and block any messages they send to you. The 1.16.4 update will also fix a number of bugs. However, this will be the final dot-release.
We need your help in testing the new UI.

Technical Changes in 1.16.4 Pre-release 1
- A new network protocol scheme with high bits (30 bits) for snapshots. The protocol version will be increased by 1 for each snapshot, but full releases will have the same protocol version as the previous full release in situations where the protocols of the network are compatible. The information has been added to the crash log in cases when poor performance causes the server to crash.

Pre-releases are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the pre-releases, you need to open the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab.
