How to Obtain Minecraft Amethyst Shards and how to use Them

Minecraft Amethyst Shards can be obtained by mining clusters of amethyst discovered with geodes. You can use them as fancy decorations and as a crafting resource to create a Spyglass or Tinted Glass. You'll need to understand the specifics of how to maximize the shard gains you can get and where to find Amethyst Geodes if you want to seek out these purple crystalshards. Here's what you should learn about mining and finding Amethyst Shards in Minecraft, and what you can use them for.



Where can I find Amethyst Geodes for Minecraft?



It is the easiest way to go underground and begin mining in Minecraft to find an Amethyst Geode. You don't necessarily have to go very deep, however: Amethyst geodes can spawn between Y-level -64 to Y-level 30. Because they are massive and often cracked, geodes can be easy to spot. You might also see faint glowing lights from a distance.



When mining be aware of the smooth basalt. This is the dark outer layer of an amethyst Geode. Break through the first layer to uncover calcite and then continue to find the amethyst. How do I obtain Amethyst Shards in Minecraft from Amethyst Clusters



Minecraft Netherite is extremely valuable however, it's much more difficult to find Amesthyst Shards.



Amethyst Shards are released from the growing amethyst crystals called Amethyst Clusters. They are found in Amethyst Geodes. If you mine amethyst clusters you get Minecraft Amethyst Shards in exchange, and they can be used to make certain items.



It is important to only mine fully grown ones. The smaller Minecraft Amethyst Buds will not drop any Amethyst Shards. There are three stages of growth before an Amethyst Bud becomes an Amethyst Cluster. You can see them in the photo above.



Fully formed Amethyst Clusters that are fully formed drop two Minecraft Amethyst Shards if broken with any other tool and four when mined using a pickaxe. The amount of Amethyst Shards that drop can further increase by using the Fortune enchantment. Use the Silk Touch enchantment to pick the cluster.

Budding Amethyst is not possible to mine, however you are able to return to find new-spawned Amethyst Buds. The other amethyst solid block is known as"Block of Amethyst" and can be mined using the aid of a pickaxe. The block is only used for decorative purposes and can't be used to grow Amethyst Buds. It can't suffocate mobs, but it can be reused after it is broken.
