How to Get Minecraft On Chromebook

You can play Minecraft on Windows and Linux, macOS, as well as mobile devices such Android or iOS. Unfortunately, there is no version of Minecraft has been ever created specifically for the Chromebook. You can however install Linux directly from the Chromebook settings page. Once you've completed this, you are now able to install and run Minecraft on your Chromebook.

Open Chromebook Setting and choose Linux Beta from left menu. Select the switch in the Linux pane.

The local storage on your Chromebook is used to set up Linux. To ensure you have enough storage, you can use the Chromebook file manager.

To continue, click Next in the pop-up Linux setup window. Select Install and then enter a username for your Linux session. It could take a few minutes for Chromebook to download and set up the virtual machine where Linux will be installed. When it's finished you'll see a Linux terminal window appear.

Visit the Minecraft download page and download the Debian/Ubuntu Minecraft.deb file to your Chromebook. Save the file to the Linux files folder located under My files in your Chromebook's storage area.

Double-click the Minecraft.deb file and select the Install button to install Minecraft into the Linux virtual machine on your Chromebook.

After the installation is complete After the installation is complete, start the Application Drawer and click on the Linux directory. Next, click on Minecraft Launcher.

If you are confronted with an installation error, open the Terminal app from the drawer in the app and enter the following Linux commands to install the most recent version of the Java Development Kit:

- sudo apt-get update

- sudo apt-get upgrade

- sudo sudo apt-get install default-jdk

This will launch Minecraft for Chromebook. The login screen will open. Log in to your Minecraft account to start playing Minecraft! After you launch the game, the app will install the most recent version on your Linux container.

The Demo can be played without having to purchase Minecraft. To enjoy the full version, you will need to click the Buy Now link and purchase Minecraft Java Edition.

How to Play Minecraft on Chromebook

Following the steps to install Minecraft, it will run flawlessly on your Chromebook. The game might be a little slow or the mouse might not work properly. You can tweak the settings on Chromebook to boost performance and reduce the likelihood of experiencing bugs.

Chrome Flags enabled

Allow Chrome flags. Flags that are enabled will enhance your Minecraft experience. If you don't see any flags below, it indicates that the flag isn't available on your Chromebook. You don't have to enable the flag.

Enable all of the following flags by opening the Chrome browser and entering (or pasting) in the URL and then selecting Enabled from the dropdown list.

Install OptiFine in Minecraft

If you own a less expensive Chromecast device and are finding that Minecraft remains a bit slow, even after you have updated the settings above, you can install OptiFine for Minecraft. This application optimizes your framerate for lower-end Chromebooks. Simply download the most recent version of Optifine and install it into your

Linux files

folder, and in the

Terminal

Type of window:

java -jar OptiFine_1.14.4_HD_U_F5.jar

(Replace the file name with the name of the file you downloaded. In our case above, our file name is OptiFine_1.14.4_HD_U_F5).

Select Install and OptiFine is installed to your Chromebook Linux install.

This means that you can play Minecraft full-screen even on an Chromebook and it will work excellent.

Chromebook and Minecraft

You'll see a message saying that Minecraft won't work with Chromebook on the Minecraft sign-up page. This is, however, true. But, if you follow the above steps, Minecraft won't work on Chromebook. It's running inside a Linux virtual machine on your Chromebook.

As as the Minecraft servers are aware you're playing Minecraft on the Linux machine.

This means that so long as you have one of the supported Chromebook devices, you are able to run Linux (Beta) and use Minecraft on your Chromebook without any issues whatsoever. If you don't have an eligible device, but you really want to play Minecraft you may want to consider upgrading to one the best Chromebooks currently available.
