Amazon was today putting the finishing touches to its first phone that is scheduled to be revealed in the next few hours by its boss Jeff Bezos.

It is believed the the device will use retina-tracking technology to make images on the smartphone's display appear to 'float above the screen' like holograms and appear three-dimensional from all angles.'

AT&T will be the first to launch the phone in the US in a deal similar to the launch of the original iPhone.

Amazon's rumored holophone will be revealed on June 18. On Wednesday, Amazon published a teaser video showing people's reactions to the handset. Before, images of the phone have leaked online. The most recent images (pictured) show a thin device that appears similar to Apple's iPhone

AT&T's competitors have already been infuriated by the reported deal.

Seattle based T-Mobile's chief executive officer, John Legere, tweeted, "Really, @Amazon? What happened to pride in your home town?

The handset's images have leaked on the internet.

It's been in development since 2009 at Lab126 Amazon's shady Silicon Valley hardware division.

According to Business Week, more than 1,600 people claim Lab126 on the professional networking site LinkedIn as their employer.

The latest images also show a thin phone which resembles Apple's iPhone.

BGR said that a variety of trusted sources have confirmed the authenticity of the image. It was created by Amazon graphic designers for internal use.

The handset is inspired by the design of Google's Nexus handset and Apple's iPhone 5.

'As can be seen in this latest image released exclusively by BGR, Amazon's phone will have a design which is similar to full-touch smartphones currently available according to BGR.

It seems to draw design cues taken from various existing smartphones including Apple's iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy S lineup and even the HTC One, which has a chamfered, polished bezel that is similar to the one seen on Amazon's phone.'

The handset is expected to feature a 4.7 inch display with 720p HD resolution and the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM, and six individual camera modules to create the 3D effect.

It will run an extremely customized version Google's Android operating system, similar to the one used on Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets.

The Amazon handset has a beveled edge similar to the apple iPhone 5

The site previously obtained images of the handset within protective cases.
