Father of Technoblade, YouTube Minecraft Star Says his Son has Died

He read his son's final message on the YouTube channel where the 20-something had entertained more 11 million viewers with Minecraft games and hilarious comments. The titlewas "so long nerds."

Technoblade, a YouTube persona who earned a following of millions with his wry comments on videos of him playing Minecraft was dead, his father announced in a video that was posted on his son's YouTube account.

Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay was watched by more than 11 million users. He was a commentator on camera. He presented the everyday events of life in his videos which range from mundane as going to the doctor for a D.M.V. or as devastating as receiving a cancer diagnosis.

A video called "so long nerds" which was posted on Technoblade's YouTube channel on Thursday and has been viewed more than 26 million times by Friday afternoon, departed from the channel's usual aesthetic of colorful, pixelated bricks. Instead, Technoblade's father appears in a chair , accompanied by an adorable white dog and a stark white background.

His father, who does not give his name and reads an email from his son. It begins: "Hello, everyone. Technoblade here. If you are watching this, I am dead."

The message continues to reveal Technoblade's birth name, Alex, which he did not use online. The video also contains some pictures of Alex with his loved ones. Alex had never appeared in his YouTube videos, preferring instead to show himself in his character: a crowned, sword-wielding pig.

"If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time," Alex's letter says. "Those were the most joyful years of my life."

His father, who remains emotional throughout the video says he and his son talked for months about whether to make an end-of-the-line video. Instead, Alex decided to write the letter, and died approximately eight hours after having completed the letter, according to his father.

"I don't think he was able to say everything he wanted say, but I think that he understood the major points," he says.

The video concludes with a statement written by the writer that is attributed to Alex's mother who's name is not revealed. She said that her son was averse to fame and was self-deprecating as his channel grew in popularity.

She wrote that Technoblade was always looking for ways to delight and reward their audience. He offered prizes online, encouraged good sportsmanship, and most importantly, shared his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and fun.

Alex's family could not reach him on Friday. Hypixel, a gaming company said that Alex's family had requested no information be provided to them. "The video they posted contains all information they are comfortable sharing at the moment," Don Pireso, the company's lead administrator told Twitter in a direct message.

Alex first made public his cancer diagnosis in a video posted to his channel in August. Like the others video, it played the game while he spoke off camera. He maintained his self-deprecating and humorous style, refusing to be too earnest. SERVERLIST101 He also admitted his age of 22.

In the video, he explained the way in which his first round of chemotherapy made him exhausted to the point that he could barely sit up for a virtual doctor's appointment. He then joked "Sitting in the chair, am I Superman?"

He said he was diagnosed after he experienced severe pain in his arm. He initially dismissed it as a strain injury caused by playing video games but even after a few days of rest, he stated, his shoulder "was swelling like a tiger."

He also urged people to take the Covid-19 vaccine. He said that his cancer treatments have weakened his immune system, which made him more susceptible to serious illness caused by the coronavirus.

"I'm going to try and speak on behalf of all cancer patients when I say it is incredibly annoying when the hospitals are overwhelmed by patients dying from preventable diseases," he said in the video. "I'm just saying that we should have priority on those hospital beds.

On social media, Technoblade's family and followers praised him for his humor and for being a role model among Minecraft players.

Minecraft is different than other games because its creator, Microsoft does not have control over the servers on which players can meet online. Instead, players can create their own servers or join one created by someone else, creating a sprawling network of worlds in the Minecraft universe.

Hypixel which manages a network of Minecraft servers, said it had designed a digital memorial book that allows people to write messages which would be printed and sent to the Technoblade family. The tribute featured a picture of Technoblade's pig character as sculpture. Technoblade's success is tied in numerous ways to the success and success of many people.
