Technoblade, a YouTube personality that gained millions of followers through his humorous comments on videos of him playing Minecraft, has passed away his father announced via a video posted to his son's YouTube account.
Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay was watched by more than 11 million players. He also provided commentary on camera. While he was usually focused on what was happening in the game, in certain videos, he talked about everyday life events such as visiting the D.M.V. or as devastating as receiving a cancer diagnosis.
Technoblade's YouTube channel uploaded a video entitled "so long geeks" on Thursday. It has been seen more than 26 million times since Friday afternoon. The video is a departure from the channel's usual aesthetic which is characterized by vibrant bricks that are pixelated. Technoblade's dad is instead in a chair with a small white dog and a stark white background.
His father, who does not give his name reads the message from his child that begins: "Hello everyone. Technoblade is here. You can see me dead when you're watching this.
The message then proceeds to reveal Technoblade's initial name, Alex. He didn’t use it on the internet. A few pictures of Alex and his loved ones are also included in the video. He hasn't often presented himself in his YouTube videos, preferring to portray himself as his avatar: a crowned, sword-wielding pig.
Alex's letter states that "If I had another hundred years in my years, I believe I'd pick Technoblade every time." keep calm and say ‘arrr’ "Those were the most joyful years of my life."
His father, who is emotional throughout the video, says the two of them talked for months about whether or not to record the final video. The father of the son says that Alex wrote the letter and died eight hours later.
He says, "I don’t think he said all he wanted to but I think that he understood the major points."
The video ends with a statement written by the writer that is believed to be the mother of Alex, who is not named. She wrote that Alex avoided personal fame and was self-deprecating when his channel grew in popularity.
She wrote that Technoblade was always seeking ways to please and reward their customers. He offered prizes online, encouraged good sportsmanship, and, most importantly, shared his Minecraft adventures to provide entertainment and laughter.
Alex's family could not be reached on Friday. Hypixel, a gaming company that worked with Technoblade and the family, stated that the family had asked that requests for comment not be sent to them. Don Pireso, the company administrator, stated in a direct tweet that "The video they shared contains all the information they're confident about sharing."
Alex first publicly acknowledged his diagnosis of cancer in a video that was posted on his channel in August. The video, which featured Alex speaking off camera and displayed the game. He maintained his self-deprecating, humorous style, refusing any attempt to be too serious. He also admitted his age of 22.
In the video, he narrated how the first round of chemotherapy left him so exhausted that he was unable to get up to make a virtual appointment with a doctor. He also joked "Sitting in the chair, am I Superman?"
After experiencing extreme pain in his arm, he said he was diagnosed. Although initially he dismissed the discomfort as a repetitive stress injury from playing video games, he later admitted that his shoulder was swelling up after several days of rest.
He also advised people to get a Covid-19 vaccine, saying that the treatment for cancer have weakened his immune system, putting him at a higher chance of contracting serious illness due to the coronavirus.
He added, "I'm going ahead and speak for all cancer patients when I declare it incredibly annoying when hospitals are overloaded by people who are dying from preventable diseases." "I'm just saying that we should have priority for the beds in hospitals.
On social media, Technoblade's family and fans have praised him for his wit and for being a role model among Minecraft players.
Minecraft is distinct from other games in that its owner, Microsoft does not have control over the servers on which players can meet online. Instead, players can create their own servers and join with others to create a huge network of worlds within the Minecraft universe.
Hypixel, which manages a network of Minecraft servers, announced that it had created a digital book in which users could write messages, and the book would be printed and sent out to Technoblade's family and friends. The company's tribute featured the pig's avatar as statue. "In many ways the success of many of us is dependent on the success of Technoblade," the company said.
