Minecraft meet-up in Peterborough described as "awful"
14 September 2015
Parents who are furious about Minecraft gamers have posted on social media to voice their displeasure about "awful" queues and a lack of things to do at an unofficial convention.
Around 4,100 people took part in MineVention at the Peterborough Arena on Saturday to meet star players and play games.
However, a lot of people have said they queued for hours to see idols, and consume food, and are now demanding refunds.
Organiser Lisa O'Brien said the queues were long, and she'd issue a statement regarding refunds in the near future.
The event is not associated with Minecraft developer Mojang and was first held in Ireland. It was the first time that it was held in the UK.

It gave gamers of the world-wide gaming smash Minecraft which allows players to build various objects using cubic blocks - the opportunity to meet the world's most famous "Youtubers", get photographs and play games.
The event, starring TV's Gadget Show presenter Jason Bradbury, also encouraged fans to dress as the game's character Steve to try to break a world record.
But afterwards it came under fire on social media with people complaining about the long lines and the absence of food and merchandise stalls and activities for fans.
Vicky Abraham shared on Facebook that she waited for her five-year old son for more than an hour only 30 seconds on a computer.
Another parent claimed that she had to wait 45 minutes for a water bottle, and claimed the whole experience was "appalling" with nothing to do. Another parent called the BBC to say that they left after half an hour due to the long lines and her son was "crying throughout the journey to home."

Some shared on Facebook, however, that they were satisfied, with one comment: "I thought you put on a fantastic event for PS15."
Lisa O'Brien of O'Brien Event Management said that she sympathized with parents since we all have children. She claimed that the queues were over 45 minutes due to the number of people who showed up on the day, rather than buying tickets in advance.
She said the convention was the first time it was done on the scale it was before, and that some official merchandise didn't arrive on time to be ready for the event.
She added that organizers had "taken into account everyone's comments, suggestions" and that they would be meeting to fix any problems. A second statement will be made on Monday evening.
