Minecraft film'set to hit silver screen'

Hugely popular block-building game Minecraft could soon be made into a film.
Minecraft creator Markus Persson revealed this week that the game's maker was talking to Warner Brothers about the project.
Mr. Persson stated that he divulged the information to stop someone else who tried to leak information about the deal.
Movie news site Deadline has reported that one of the producers of the recently released Lego Movie is handling the project.
Warner was planning to transform into a "live action" version of the game into a feature film according to Deadline.
The film is in its early stages as Warner has just acquired the rights for Minecraft's iconic characters monsters, blocks, and blocks.

This news comes less than two months after Mojang, Minecraft creator, has shut down a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to make a film that was based on the game.
Film adaptations of top-selling games have a rocky track record in Hollywood and a lot of projects never make it past the initial planning stage.
For instance, a movie set in the science-fictional Halo universe has been in development for the past nine years, but filming has not yet to begin despite numerous scripts being written.
Similarly films based on Bioshock, Gears of War and Metal Gear Solid Work have all been talked about but none have yet to start shooting.
One game that is definitely being made into a movie is World of Warcraft, filming began in late January with British director Duncan Jones in charge. The film will be released in early 2016.
