The Camera Performs Differently Minecraft's

The initial version, that was released on December 2, 2009 was more restricted than any other edition of Minecraft ever released to the public, including the pre-classic version available from the Minecraft Launcher. A version update on December 4, 2009, altered the controls and added broadscreen, more blocks and the ability to put and demolish blocks. [2]

The page that hosted the original game was taken down in November 2014. You can still access its archive by using the Wayback Machine. The executable is also accessible on the Internet Archive.

On December 2, 2012 Notch released a JavaScript version of Minecraft 4k. It is not possible to move or view in this version, though the camera or the world does move on its own and there's an aqua-colored blue block in addition to the other types of blocks. [3]

1 Gameplay 1.1 General 1.2 World 1.3 Controls

Gameplay[]

General[]

The player can place and destroy blocks. The only block a player can put in is grass, similar to the very early builds of Minecraft internally known as RubyDung which are available through the Minecraft Launcher. Leaves do not decay.

World[]

Each time the game loads the exact 64x64x63-block universe is generated. The only blocks in the game are air, grass block dirt, stone, bricks leaves, wood, and air - are scattered throughout the globe. No mobs exist.

The first version of the game is only one type of block which uses a XOR fractal as texture.

An invisible wall protects the world, and prevents the player from fleeing as in the bedrock that is invisible or an old world.

Controls[]

The player can move with the normal WASD controls as also jumping using Space.

Left- and right-clicking controls are different from traditional Minecraft controls. Left-click places blocks, while right-clicks destroy them. The middle-click also places blocks in a different way. The camera is "smoothly" activated by moving the mouse, similar to pressing F8 in Java Edition. This version is not able to be changed.

The camera functions differently from Minecraft's. The camera moves only when the cursor is moved a significant distance from the center of Minecraft's viewport. The cursor selects blocks in the world, and is not the center of the viewport.

The game does not have an options menu or a HUD.

Graphics[]

Because the game renders at a low resolution, the graphics appear blurred. Even when running at a higher resolution the game doesn't scale the resolution properly and the appearance of noise is maintained. Block textures are identical to the ones used in Classic because Classic 0.30 (Creative) was the most recent version of Minecraft at the time. Most blocks appear louder than their Minecraft counterparts, however some blocks, especially stone, are a lot different. The sky is black due to the lack of skyboxes.

When you hover your cursor over a block the outline of the block is thick and white, in contrast to Minecraft's thin gray outline of the block selection.

A comparison of Minecraft 4k's textures and Minecraft Classic's block textures.

Blocks[]

The original version of the game comes with one non-air block.

In the second version, block IDs are stored using four bits, giving 16 possible IDs. These are mostly filled in with slightly different textured dirt.
