My radar is constantly updated with reports about the incredible work of children from all over the world as they learn and improve their skills in their gaming interactions. This amazing platform is utilized by a lot of children who are supported by their parents and their peers. Teachers are as well helping their students achieve amazing feats.
Just look at this gorgeous construction in Minecraft The Minecraft build is stunning! Babylon in a completely exciting new world for our children's futures. Amazing does not just refer to building in a game environment. I mean engaging in the arts of literacy and communication, storytelling and digital citizenship; and above all creativity and global cultural. It takes effort from adults to guide students in this way.
Minecraft in education is a growing phenomenon and educators are rushing to explore ways to integrate Minecraft into the learning culture of their schools. To be honest - Minecraft is also becoming a minefield of its very own in the adult world' (consultant warning) - which is why it is crucial that we connect with quality users with grounded knowledge of best practices in Minecraft instead of with consultants.
Project Mist
Donelle Batty's Project Mist is one of my favourite Australian leaders. She is so involved with her children each day that it's something we want for all of our children. Donelle has been running Project M.I.S.T (Minecraft In School Transforming education) for what seems like eons now. Her students enjoy extremely powerful learning experiences. GMods experience in Minecraft tells it all!
My experience in Minecraft this year was spectacular; the team work, the efforts, the creativity I witnessed and experienced was truly amazing. Robinson's Blog In the class, I was able to interact with children who share the same interests that I do, and build friendships throughout the year. Cooperation was the main highlight in the event of massive number of mobs, and a high death toll we hid in shelters and shared supplies. It was always a pleasure assist someone in building or creating something. I've also learned how important it is to show my online image and how I present myself. Your first impression is everything. If you behave like an online tool people will look at you once and say something like "Wow, that person looks unprofessional and rude." That would be their last visit to your site/severor profile.
Recently I followed a tweet to see what Donelle wrote about the launch of 2014's #ProjectMIST.
2014 #ProjectMIST is about to begin. It requires a dedicated community! http://t.co/HwGMrUlHI5 #minecraft @natbott42

She reminded us that Minecraft is a game that is collaborative and that is evident in the different stages of learning involved in gaining Minecraft experience. Donelle is a leader in the world, and will soon be traveling to Tasmania as an Hardie Fellow (Info re Hardie Fellowship recipients 2013-14).
Donelle also brought back Jo Kay's incredible work, whom I have worked closely with throughout the years on a variety of projects. Jo currently builds and supports our work on the Master of Education (Knowledge Networks and Digital Innovation) degree at CSU. We don't utilize the standard LMS but have created our own system to support the degree.
Donelle also explains the same way:
We are extremely fortunate at ProjectMIST as we have a person who has been with us since the beginning and has been there even at 12:04am. Jo Kay is there to support the students when I'm not. Her help is greatly appreciated by the students and they show this by building replicas of her avatars on their own servers. One young man even did this the other night , when she helped him out when he locked himself out of his server. The student has just been accepted onto Massively @ Jokaydia Minecraft Guild and he is really thrilled to be able to create, learn and play with other players from all over of the world.
If you are an educator, parent, or simply someone who wants to give kids an opportunity to play Minecraft I suggest you go to Massively @ Jokaydia.
The Massively @ jokaydia Guild Website - a community supported by jokaydia.com offers children and their parents with a space to learn, collaborate and play!
The project is for children aged 4-16 years old who are interested in digital media skills, creativity, and social abilities online. We are currently using Minecraft, a video game Minecraft to support a safe, whitelisted server and an array of activities that encourage kids to choose their own fun learning paths and adventures.
This is the best thing you can achieve! Babylon was built by a single student!
