Minecraft for Remote and Hybrid Learning
Minecraft: Education Edition is an online game-based learning platform that helps students learn essential 21st century skills, such as coding and creative problem solving. A myriad of free lessons aligned with standards designs, design challenges and STEM curriculum are available in the game and online, in addition to flexible templates that allow teachers to create their own learning activities. In a time when being connected to the classroom is of particular importance, Minecraft supports collaboration and meaningful student-led learning. Visit our distance learning page to download lesson tools and other resources for remote and hybrid learning using Minecraft: Education Edition.
Teachers strive to create inclusive classrooms. This can be challenging when students are forced to adapt to learning at home, away from their familiar and social school environment. Minecraft Education Edition helps to foster social-emotional learning by giving students and educators alike the chance to interact with one another in-game and work on projects together.
"We've built new relationships with students in this learning experience that is remote," explains Welsh educator and Minecraft mentor James Protheroe. "They're working together in different ways, and it's enhancing relationships between teachers and students. They can use Minecraft to make sense of the world around them. They can communicate their thoughts and their reasoning, relieve stress, and learn in a setting that is safe.
