What is it and what's the Background?

You keep mentioning and linking to this Hololive and related stuff. I'm out. What's the problem? And what's the background? Some background from my personal perspective might help. I spend long hours at my desk by myself and sometimes even late at night so having something else on the other monitor helps me to not get distracted by Twitter or other social media sites.



For a while, I was a devoted listener to a long list of podcasts, including networks like This Week in Tech and The Incomparable. As we entered 2020, a lot of stuff I was listening to that was supposedly about geek or tech culture topics was becoming unpleasantly political, and by "unpleasantly political" I mean batshit insane communism. These were the same things that had destroyed Twitter by 2018.



This is evident in my YouTube recommendations. It's the only time Google has done anything right since 2013.



It's only a 20 second clip , but it was long enough to make me think What do you think? and take a deeper look. Then I realized that there was no way out of the rabbit hole.



This is Hololive.



Yes, there are many of them. (This is a collection of seven videos that were edited by an enthusiast. This is why some transitions aren't perfect.



In essence, Hololive is an international 24-hour all-girl comedy channel that improvises. Unwoke, non-politically correct, irreverent and chaotic. They even have their own Bugs Bunny character that you can see for a few seconds in the video. Her name is Usada Pekora and she has 1.8 million YouTube subscribers.



They sing, they dance - they have live concerts with full motion tracking and 3D models, they draw at least two successful commercial artists They play a lot of Minecraft, and they don't take any shit from anyone.



The background of Hololive is also fascinating. Cover Corp, the parent company, was working on an AR device that could replace expensive motion tracking with a regular iPhone. However they didn't have much success when it came to entering the market.



Two high school students from Japan approached them in 2017 and asked for a virtual spokeswoman. One of them is Tokino Sora with 900,000 subscribers, and the other is referred to as A-chan and is a senior manager overseeing activity across the entire company.



The pivot was a huge hit and Hololive has turned into an investment bank. Their smallest channel, which they have manyof, has close to 300,000. The largest channel has nearly 4 million subscribers.



Many people are tired of hypocritical woke crap and require entertainers who are honest. They have enough distance to utilize 2D characters and stage names, and also a strict corporate policy protecting privacy and privacy, so they don't require any excuses.

They aren't explicitly political but in this day and age , that's an important political declaration.

Also, Hololive is the main reason why I decided to rejoin Twitter. They publish stream announcements on their site.

She's an apprehension in certain areas. She can hold a conversation for up to four hours, every day, and not repeat her own words. And she can do all this while simultaneously doing three other things, which is a rare talent.
