The game began the Classic stage of development. This included the Survival Test, Multiplayer Test, as well as much more content, including more blocks, mobs, and more Physics.
In comparison to Lego Creator, Minecraft relied entirely on a strict fixed grid that was hard-wired. This meant that blocks and the like could only be placed on the exact integer coordinates the grid itself was predetermined. This method was commonly used in games like SimCity, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and Sim Theme Park, among others. Flash ants Minecraft had taken that system from those past games, leading to the block grid system that we know of today. Another benefit of the hard-wired grid itself was that literally only one block or tile could be placed in that area at a time because the coordinate's information was then absorbed by the block or tile itself, rather than the empty data which is air which was previously in that same spot. Because the tile took up the co-ordinate's data and you could not put more than one torch in the same location as the first. This, in addition to other factors, creates a number of major problems which we'll discuss later in the section.
