It can be difficult for us ordinary people to comprehend just how much money a billion dollars is. So, if you need to look beyond an amount to comprehend the amount of money Notch gained from selling Minecraft to Microsoft for $2.5 billion (yes, billion with the letter B), just take an e-mail from his Beverly Hills mansion. This is the house Minecraft bought, people say, a $70 million home with its own cinema that is controlled by iPads, fountains with an iPad and automated glass doors with a panoramic view of LA and, best of all, a sweet room that is exactly what it seems to be. This includes all the costly furniture and TVs that measure 90 inches. There are also cases of Dom Perignon champagne.
Markus Persson (Notch's real name) apparently paid cash for the eight-bedroom, 15-bath property, just six days after closing the deal. According to Bloomberg, Notch outmaneuvered and beat out interested celebrities, including Jay Z and Beyonce, who have visited the property numerous times over the last few months. But, Jay and Bey are believed to be worth $1 billion each, while Notch's net worth is estimated to be between $1.5 to $2 billion. We'd look at other pictures of the property on its website, but we're too busy thinking of a billion-dollar idea to sell Apple/Microsoft/Facebook in the future.
