MIAMI CBSMiami -- The war in Ukraine might be on the other end of the world, however South Floridians step up to aid those who are fleeing.
Many members of the Sunny Isles Jewish community are fundraising and working to orchestrate a full humanitarian effort.
Marsha Jaquays from Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital posted the followinginformation "Just last night, 1,100 people were admitted."
She stated that over two million Ukrainian refugees seek refuge in a war-torn nation. A large portion of them cross into Moldova that borders Ukraine.
Jaquays said, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually working to help them cross the border and then possibly by providing shelter, food and clothing."
The majority of humanitarian efforts are being conducted by Sunny Isles, South Florida.
"My task is to mobilise all resources available from the American society to help with this situation in Moldova." Emmanuil grinshpun, an aid worker, stated that there was a complete team on the ground helping to coordinate humanitarian efforts in Moldova.
The worst part is that Moldova is among the poorest countries around the globe. However, those who are involved in this effort claim that they will not be prevented by anything.

Jaquays echo sentiments
"Who was there when the Nazis were in control of Europe during the Holocaust? How many people did you turn away and claim that it was me it's not me. I'm not Jewish. It's my community. I'm not part of Europe. We shouldn't repeat the same mistakes history has made. There's a saying "If there isn't a time, then when." Emmanuil Grinshpun If you're not me then who'."
