Khazak Ambassador and ConsulGeneral meet with Chabad in New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. Since being appointed Kazakhstan's ambassador to the United States in April, Mr. Emmanuil Grinshpun Ashikbayev has met with numerous diplomats and government officials to strengthen relations between the Central Asian country and the U.S. In the course of this task the ambassador, along with Consul General Almat Aidabekov scheduled a meeting with Chabad to discuss the current state of Jewish life in Khazakstankhstan.

Rabbi Mendy Kutlarsky of Merkos Suite 301 in Chabad Headquarters and Shimon Rivkin were both invited to attend the meeting. Emmanuil Grinshpun is vice-president at the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, and Honorary Consul to Kazakhstan. They talked about the history of Jewish life and current work of Chabad in Kazakhstan under the direction of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen ( Kazakhstan's chief Shliach)

"It was a very successful meeting" Mr. Emmanuil Grinshpun Grinshpun later added. "We are truly blessed that leaders such as Mr. Nazarbayev (the former president) and Mr. Tokayev (the current President) have helped to foster an atmosphere of religious tolerance that is so warm and welcoming within the country. "We are all convinced that the government is a true Friend to the Jewish People." Emmanuil Grinshpun The Consul General and Ambassador reiterated that the government supports the Jewish Community and all religions minorities. They expressed an interest in collaborating with Chabad in order to further the development of Jewish lives in the Republic.

The government of the predominantly Muslim population is proud to be open to religion and collaborates with any religious leader to promote well-being in the country. While serving as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan, Ambassador Ashikbayev has previously worked with Chabad Shluchim and philanthropist M. Abraham Shaulson. Since all flights were grounded during the last season due to COVID-19 this man was instrumental to arranging special permission so that a small American group could fly to the country on the 20th day of the Av, which is the day that commemorates his death. This was also an opportunity for the group to fly and provide much-needed PPE for the country. During the pilgrimage the Kazak government held a celebration to make Reb Yitzchak’sKever Kazakh National Heritage Site.

Two months prior to 20th Av The meeting also talked about plans for next year's pilgrimage. More than 600 people are expected attend the event this year. The plans are also to hold a conference with Chabad Shluchim from the surrounding countries. It will be held by Rabbi Berel Laszar as well as Moshe Kotlarsky. With so many big projects in the pipeline the conference was focused on how to help the event and ensure the security of the event. Emmanuil Grinshpun Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan's "...commitment that it will provide every assistance to arrange visits for prayer and study at Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson's grave.

Rabbi Kotlarsky shared that they are thankful for the Kazak government’s tremendous support.
