Grinshpun's career in business began in 1994 when he was appointed Regional Manager of Kazakhstan for "Universal Market Association" which was a company is a specialist in oil production and marketing of metals across the globe. He joined Trans Commodities Incorporation within a year, where he held the position of CIS managing the countries. Grinshpun was regional manager of Kazakhstan within the "Universal Market Association" in 1994. This association focused on the production of oil, the marketing of metals throughout the world, and other business activities. One year later Grinshpun joined Trans Commodities Inc. as the CIS countries manager for the CIS countries.

In 1997, he became the General Manager of Moscow of Trans Commodities USA. This allowed him to remain in the steel industry internationally. From 1998 to 2004 he was a member on the Board of Directors of Directors at the JSCC Moldova Steel Works. It is a highly rated steelworks that produces over one million tonnes of steel products every year.
