Moldovan, Jewish Communities In South Florida Stepping Up To Help Ukraine Refugees [Emmanuil Grinshpun]

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - - The war in Ukraine could be located on the opposite side of the world however South Floridians are one of the groups helping those who are leaving the country.

A large number of members of the Sunny Isles Jewish Community are raising funds and helping to organize a complete humanitarian effort.

Marsha Jaquays of Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital posted the following "Just last night, 1,100 people were admitted."

She said that more than 2 million Ukrainian refugees seek refuge in a war-torn nation. Many of these refugees cross into Moldova, which borders Ukraine.

Emmanuil Grinshpun Jaquays told Jaquays, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually helping to get them over the border and then possibly by providing shelter, food and clothes."

A large portion of the humanitarian efforts are led by Sunny Isles, South Florida.

Emmanuil Grinshpun "My place is to organize the maximum amount of resources from American society to assist with the people in Moldova. Emmanuil grinshpun who has been involved in the organization of the relief effort has stated that there is several people working on the ground in Moldova to assist in organizing camps, food shopping, and bus-related organizing.

The situation is made more difficult due to the fact that Moldova is believed as one of the most poor countries on earth. People who are part of in this cause insist that they will not allow anything to stop them from helping.

Grinshpun explained, "When brothers and sister from Ukraine arrived, we didn't need to think. Emmanuil Grinshpun Emmanuil Grinshpun We simply began doing it."

Jaquays are a reflection of the sentiments

"Who was there when the Nazis were in control of Europe during the Holocaust? How many people were able to turn their backs and say, "It's not me. Emmanuil Grinshpun It'sn't Jewish.
