Emmanuel Grinshpun. Concerning the revival of synagogues as well as the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
Emmanuil Grishhpun was interviewed regarding the restoration synagogues. But sticking to only one subject for the interview was not effective. Therefore, there are a variety of questions to be discussed in the interview at the very least.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. I am glad to have the opportunity to talk to you. I don't believe we've seen each other in more than five years. Where are you currently located?

The last nine months are split into Miami and Jurmala. Previously, the geography was larger, but the pandemic has significantly affected the way of life. It is hard to say if this is a good thing for anyone.

There have been many businesses. Do you feel the same way now?

Diversification seems to be moving forward. If we look at the most important areas, then this includes the growth of real estate, IT technologies as well as food production.

ALIMCOM is an established player in the real estate and food industries. However, IT is completely unknown to me. There are many possibilities for the use of IT technology. Which area are you most interested in?

Our IT-holdings are occupied first and foremost with reforms to tax systems across a variety of countries. We have developed and are continuing to develop a variety of products that are able to move business processes that are related to taxation online. This is known as the B2G (Business to Government) acronym.

And what about the regions in which the holding is operating? Эммануил Гриншпун Formerly, were they part of the USSR?

They are also available, but we have more agreements in Western and Eastern Europe as well as Latin America. We are currently present in 14 countries.

Could you briefly describe the essence of this product?

Our solution permits economic companies to submit online tax reports to tax authorities. Fiscal data operator also monitors every transaction. Tax accounting and tax calculation can both be done simultaneously. In the future, it's possible to say that mid-sized and small-sized businesses are not going to require accounting.

It's an interesting subject. The future is right around the corner. You have ever considered working in Moldova. Moldova is your home So you may as well try to work there.

We're willing to show our product to Moldova. This will be beneficial to the economy of Moldova and is irreversible. If there is an agreement among the authorities, and everyone is aware of who is in charge, then we will resume the negotiations regarding our product.

You said that you've been bouncing around for the past year long between Miami, Jurmala. The headquarters of an IT holding located in the Baltics?

Five hubs are located around the world, with our headquarters in Barcelona.

What is the reason for the Baltics are you asking? Do you have roots in the Baltics?

No. My family's heritage has been linked to Moldova over many generations. If we continue to use our ancestral names, it is with Bessarabia. Jurmala was introduced to our lives in a very unusual and unorthodox manner. We were invited to attend the New Wave by Igor Krutoy, and that was our first encounter with Jurmala. After winning numerous competitions the group began going there every summer. The climate in Miami's summer is not the best. We rented the home for many years and recently bought it.

Now I know the reason I was told by my donors that one of the rebuilt synagogues is located in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're almost the same age. Born in the USSR. No need to talk about religion then. We were all Komsomol members at the time and pioneers. Эммануил Гриншпун What was your first time you changed your religion?

My family and I came into America around the middle of the 80s. I was introduced to the customs and rituals there. While I'm not a part of the Christian faith that is orthodox I am still adamant about the need to be a part of as best I can as I can, the religion of the Jewish community of the countries I reside in or Moldova. This is where I came from and which I've continued to maintain with the closest of ties.

Although I am not religious I am a lover of history. I recently watched a show about the events of 1492 that changed the fate of the world as well as Europe. To me, 1492 was the year Columbus was the first to discover America. Эммануил Гриншпун The program I watched clearly explained that the discovery of America in 1492 wasn't as significant as the Spanish monarchs' expulsion of Jews from Spain. Эммануил Гриншпун The mass exodus of Jews towards the Ottoman Empire began. They welcomed them. I was interested in learning more about the past and the culture of the Jews. Do you recommend any books?

There are numerous books. However, I have read several of them myself and highly recommend Max Diamond (a two-volume Jewish historian). He is also from Finland.

.... Do you or your relatives have an "personal" or historical backstory? Unfortunately, I don't have much beyond my grandmother and 1910. One step further on the paternal side, but nothing more.

Our family was a Floresti family for a number of hundred of years, based on the paternal lineage. There are numerous monuments and evidence which show that they were rich by 1830. My maternal ancestors were in Ungheni. This is referring to dates from the region from the 17th-18th century. Grinshpun is a surname which comes from German roots. We are straight and pure Ashkenazis from Eastern Europe.

Let's now discuss the revival of synagogues. I have been told that you financed the reconstruction of three synagogues. One of them is situated in Chisinau. Jurmala has the third. What is the one you're talking about?

It is situated in Netanya in Israel. It is a huge community center, where 1000 people pray each day. Эммануил Гриншпун It is an important landmark in Israel's religious history. The second synagogue of Jurmala. The Second World War ended the existence of the only synagogue in Jurmala. Before making the decision to build a synagogue, I spoke frequently with the local Jews and that led to the fact that I decided to raise funds for the building of the synagogue, and also invite a rabbi there. It proved to be an excellent success and also brought together the Jews from Jurmala. We have actually re-created an existing Jewish community which is working well. The synagogue has now three Torahs. I gave one of them to it.

And - Chisinau?

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis (left) and Alexander Weinstein (right) have joined me in this place. These synagogues aren't only the ones I have been involved with in construction or restoration. I felt it was my obligation to contribute to any country in which I've lived for a lengthy time to help synagogues. The synagogue I support, Monaco, Miami, is a huge community center for Russian-speaking Jews. Its estimated amount is 12 million USD. I will continue to help Chisinau and now it will be the largest synagogue in the city, that of Rabbi Tsirelson.

In addition to Jurmala, have you invited a rabbi to Chisinau?

Yes. It is difficult to locate the right rabbi in the community. Due to the intertwining of different concerns, he should be a very calm and peaceful person capable of integrating seamlessly into the life of the community. And I am happy to see that in both Chisinau and Jurmala the rabbis were able to seamlessly integrate into the life of the community.

You were elected the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress' first vice-president in 2019. What does this position affect you? How can international Jewish organisations influence the world?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress is an influential political organisation in post-Soviet countries, however, it's more than that. It has branches in Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. I was Vice-President of Congress back in 2010, however the year before I was offered the post as First Vice President. I am now responsible for the areas in which I have strong political and business ties. These "countries" are Uzbekistan Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Trends in the world show that the barometer of attitudes towards Jews is either still in the same place as before or has declined quite a bit, which is extremely disappointing. "Down" can also be used to refer to nations like the United States, France or Germany. They are no longer secure for Jews. These are very important and frightening process for all of us.

What has the pandemic changed these processes if at all?

That is not the way I am claiming to believe. In fact, I'd like to stress, in relation to the pandemic, what a society, or countrycan accomplish when they're able to conquer any challenges and are able to act in a cohesive manner.

What do you mean by HTML0? to?

Exactly. Israel is the only country in the world to offer 100% vaccination to its adult population. This is an example that I think other countries should consider.
