In a blog entry on Wednesday Mojang wrote that NFTs don't match Minecraft's principles and are therefore not allowed in the game.
The company claimed that NFTs' speculative pricing and investment mentality distracts from the game and encourages profiteering. This is in opposition to the long-term joy of our players.
The company clarified that blockchain technologies were not allowed to be integrated into our Minecraft client or server applications, nor can they be utilized to create NFTs linked to any game content.
NFTs are a tense topic among gamers who've pushed back on initiatives from Ubisoft and other publishers that seek to incorporate the technology into their games.
