A genuine Nintendo Wii gaming PC now is available, and the tiny stealth model can run Minecraft at 4K. The custom build can even handle competitive favourites like Fortnite and Rocket League, thanks to its AMD Ryzen 5 APU and a couple of clever console shell modifications.
AlexTriesTech developed the Nintendo Wii gaming computer, called 'WiiC'. It is an unspecified console disguised as a family console. Fun Gallery The AMD Ryzen 5 5500U-powered machine can play Wii games using Dolphin however, it's fully-fledged Windows 11 system and will play a significant portion of your Steam library.
The innards of the WiiC originally belonged to the mini Ryzen APU PC, but AlexTriesTech has reduced the size of the motherboard to make it fit inside the Wii's tinier chassis. To make the build compatible with the Nintendo WiiC, they have eliminated additional components like Gamecube controller ports as well as its original disc drive. The sell also features modifications to improve airflow, decrease the throttle on CPUs, and ultimately increase the speed of the game.
The project is the result of months worth of fiddling around and tweaking, but the final product looks like a fully functional Nintendo Wii. It even has RGB lighting, something that helps replicate the blue glow of the original console's disc slot.
While the Wii stealth rig may appear to be an oddity, tests show it's far more than just a joke. The micro device can create more than 100 frames per second in Fornite and run Rainbow Six: Siege at 1080p 60fps, Shadow of the Tomb Raider at just about playable size on the small PC. As mentioned above, it can manage Minecraft at 4K, so you could pair it with the most powerful gaming monitor to play the block game of the past at the highest resolution.
We had previously decided that the Queen's Golden Wii should be turned into the top gaming PC, but we're happy to go with AlexTriesTech's invention. It's akin to the old thing you used for tennis or bowling with your Nan. This is precisely what makes it different.
