Minecraft 1.20-everything we Know about the Upcoming Major Minecraft Update

Minecraft 1.20-everything we know about the next major Minecraft update

Minecraft 1.20 does not have a name yet, but it is focused on "creativity and intrinsic motivation."

As we've all been anticipating, Minecraft 1.20 will be the next major Minecraft update that will be released in 2023. It doesn't have its own name yet, though. Recently, Mojang stated that it has learned from displaying features too early . This could result in players being disappointed when things change or are moved into later versions. So , this time, we've only seen part of the total features list for 1.20 and do not have a name to base our hopes on.

We do know that Mojang has stated that update 1.20 will focus on "self expression creativity, self expression, and intrinsic motivation." That last part is something I got to hear a lot about from Minecraft's game director Agnes Larsson and gameplay designer Nir Vaknin when I interviewed them earlier in 2022. They do not want Minecraft to feel shackled as they've stated that they want players to return because they're feeling inspired, not because they feel compelled by the grind of crafting.

It's no surprise then that several of the new features we've heard about in 1.20 focus on building: new aesthetic blocks and the possibility of a practical bookshelf. We're also getting an ode to adventure with the brand new camel mount found in the deserts.

Although the feature list feels a bit short at the moment however, we are sure Mojang will reveal more features for version 1.20 as it gets closer to its release. Here are all the details we know about the next update:

When will the Minecraft 1.20 update go live?

Mojang hasn't yet announced the date for Minecraft 1.20's launch however it is anticipated that it will be released sometime in 2023. Since Mojang has explained that features in the update are close to complete development it is likely we will see the new version launched a year following the most recent version, perhaps in the summer of 2023.

Even though the full update won't be available for a while but we'll be able to begin messing with Minecraft 1.20 features really soon. Mojang announced that it would begin releasing Minecraft Preview builds and 1.20 snapshots a few days after the October 15 reveal stream.

What new blocks are added to Minecraft 1.20?

So far the new blocks in Minecraft 1.20 we've seen so far are mostly focused on personalizing builds and telling stories with new gadgets. There's the bamboo wood type, the functional chiseled bookshelf, and hanging signs too.

Hanging signsthey are available in wall, ceiling and narrow hanging options.

Bamboo wood: a complete set of bamboo wood blocks including trapdoors, doors and planks.

Raft: the bamboo version of an a-boat is actually a flat raft that can ride on.

Bamboo mosaic A new type of decorative block made just for bamboo.

Chiseled bookshelf:A functional bookshelf that you can place up to six books on.

The bookshelf that has been chiseled is particularly attractive due to its redstone signaling capability. It will give off an redstone signal based on how many books it has in its inventory that Mojang suggests could power amazing hidden doors. The shelf does not have an inventory interface, Mojang says. This means that you'll put books on the shelf by clicking on it with a book in your hand or taking a book by using your reticle and clicking with an empty hand.

The new Minecraft 1.20 mobs are made up of the camel and sniffer

So far there are two new mobs coming in Minecraft 1.20 The other is the

Camel

Mojang selected itself as the first desert dwelling mount and sniffer, which won the votes of the mobs in the community.

Camels are often seen wandering around desert villages walking, sitting, and flopping their ears. They're actually a new type of mount, which is their coolest feature: They can seat two players. This means you can bring a friend to a hike between bases without having two different mounts. Camels also have a special horizontal dash feature that allows them to cross ravines.

The sniffer is an extinct mob from the Overworld , which will require reviving by finding their eggs. They are large and slightly turtle-like, with mossy rears and large yellow snouts. They have floppy pink ears and large ears. Once they hatch the sniffers will discover ancient seeds in the ground and bring them to you to plant.

Minecraft will get seven new default skins for characters

You no longer have to pick between Alex or Steve for your default Minecraft appearance. Mojang has introduced seven new default characters: Makena (Efe), Noor, Kai Ari, Sunny, Sunny, and Zuri. Mojang claims that this is part of its effort to help players express themselves by offering an array of default characters.

However, Minecraft Bedrock players can still make use of the dressing room to create their own personalized Minecraft character and Java players can download a plethora of free Minecraft skins designed by other players, but the nod to new characters is pleasing.

Mojang claims that the new default characters for Minecraft will be available before update 1.20 in the month of November or December 2022.

Is there a new biome available in Minecraft 1.20?

Unfortunately no, it isn't likely, Mojang said during a Q&A with press on update 1.20. But, Mojang has made it clear that it hasn't yet announced the full feature list for the update as of yet, which suggests it might be putting off the biome-related surprise. Souldevteam It's best to take Mojang at its word and don't make any promises for the moment, but, well, anything's possible.

In the year 2019, Minecraft 1.15, Buzzy Bees was the most recent major Minecraft update that didn't contain any new biomes. The update placed an emphasis on the bee mob, and all its related items, including honey blocks and nests. We can expect the same attention to other areas if version 1.20 doesn't include the biome.
