We don't have the Usual LMS

The regular reports that come through my radar of the amazing work being undertaken by global kids as they grow up to be knowledgeable and knowledgeable in their gaming interactions. This amazing platform is being used by a variety of kids who are supported by their parents and peers. Many teachers are also encouraging their students to accomplish amazing things.

Take a look at this stunning build in Minecraft The Minecraft build is stunning! Babylon in a completely modern world of our children's futures. Amazing - I don't mean just building in a gaming environment! MINECRAFT SERVERS I mean literacy and communication, digital citizenship and storytelling, as well as creativity and global culture. It takes effort on the part of adults to guide students in this way.

Minecraft in education is a growing phenomenon and educators are taking to the platform to explore ways to integrate Minecraft into the learning cultures of their schools. To be honest - Minecraft is also becoming a minefield on its own in the 'grown up world' (consultant warning) - and that is why it is important that we connect to a reputable user who has knowledge of the best practices in Minecraft instead of with consultants.

Project Mist

Project Mist Project Mist, created by Donelle Batty, is one of my favorite Australian leaders - doing with her kids daily that we could only wish for all our kids. Donelle has been operating Project M.I.S.T (Minecraft In School Transforming education) for the last few years. Her students have had very engaging learning experiences. GMods experience in Minecraft is a great example!

My experience in Minecraft this year was truly memorable the teamwork, the efforts, the creativity I witnessed and experienced was simply amazing. I was able to meet other kids who shared the same interests as I do and formed friendships throughout the year. The best part was cooperating. When there were large crowds and deaths, we took shelter and shared our tools. If someone needed help in making or building something, it was always a pleasure to teach them how to do it. I've also learned more about how important it is to present myself online and how I present myself. Your first impression is everything. If you're acting like an online tool people will come across you and think: "Wow, that person is rude and stupid" This could be the last time they see your site/ sever/ profile.

I recently followed Donelle's Twitter to see her thoughts on the launch of #ProjectMIST during 2014.

2014 #ProjectMIST will soon begin. It requires a dedicated community! http://t.co/HwGMrUlHI5 #minecraft @natbott42

- Donelle Batty (@dbatty1) March 21, 2014

She reminded us all that Minecraft is a collaborative experience as are the many stages of learning required to gain Minecraft experience. Donelle is without doubt a global leader and will be away from her home town of Tasmania as a Hardie Fellow (Info re Hardie Fellowship and the recipients for 2013-14).

Donelle was also reminded of Jo Kay's incredible work, whom I've worked closely with over the years on many projects. Jo is currently supporting and building our work in the Master of Education, Knowledge Networks and Digital Innovation degree here at CSU. We don't use the standard LMS but have created our own system to support the degree.

Donelle also explains this in a similar manner:

ProjectMIST is very fortunate to have one person who has been there for since the beginning of the project and is always there even at 12:01 AM. At this time of the day, I am asleep and my computer is also asleep but Jo Kay is wide awake helping the students when I am not. Students appreciate her support and have built replicas of her avatars on their own servers. One young man did this the other night after locking himself out of his server. This student has recently been accepted onto Massively @ Jokaydia Minecraft Guild and he is really excited to be able to build, learn , and explore with other players from all over of the world.

If you're an educator, parent, or simply someone who wants to give kids the chance to play Minecraft I suggest you visit Massively @ Jokaydia.

The Massively @ jokaydia Website is a community that is supported by jokaydia.com – provides parents and children with games-based spaces where they can collaborate, learn and play!

The project is designed for children aged 4-16 years old who are interested in developing digital media, creativity, and social abilities online. We are currently using Minecraft, a video game Minecraft to support a safe whitelisted server as well as a range of activities which encourage kids to choose their own playful learning pathways and adventures.

This is the best you can achieve! Babylon was created by one student!
