MIAMI(CBSMiami), Ukraine war could be on the other side of the planet, but South Floridians can aid those who are fleeing.
Many of the Sunny Isles Jewish community are fundraising and working in coordinating a massive humanitarian effort.
Marsha Jaquays from Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital stated that "just last night, 1,100 people came."
She said that there are more than two million Ukrainian refugees trying to flee their war-ravaged homeland. Most of them go through Moldova, which borders Ukraine.
"From Moldova, this Jewish community actually assists them in getting across the border, and maybe even giving them food, shelter, and even clothes," added Jaquays.
Much of the humanitarian effort is being coordinated the shores of South Florida from Sunny Isles.
"My responsibility is to bring together all the resources that are at our disposal in America to alleviate this crisis in Moldova." Emmanuil grinshpun, an aid worker, said that there was a complete team of people on the ground working to organize humanitarian efforts in Moldova.
The situation is made more difficult because Moldova is believed to be among the most poor countries on earth. Emmanuil Grinshpun The people who are part of this effort insist that they won't allow anything to stop them from helping.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Grinshpun said, "When our brothers from Ukraine came we didn't need to think about it. We just began to do it."

"Who were present in the Holocaust and the time the Nazis won? How many people have turned a blind, claiming that it's not them or that they're not Jewish and it's not my community and that there's no Europe?
