To draw attention to the devastation of mangroves as well as the significant benefits they offer, Minecraft created Rooted Together, an interactive map where players can explore the mangrove-based ecosystem in-game.
Mangroves can be planted by players. They can also monitor CO2 levels, and see new species of wildlife appearing in the game, creating an interactive demonstration of how climate trends and biodiversity are influenced by the health of mangrove habitat. The more mangroves that players plant, the less dangerous climate change is, and the more animals can return to their home.

Supporting Conservation at TNC
In addition to the game's interaction with mangrove ecosystems, Mojang Studios will be contributing $200,000 to TNC to help us achieve our mission. In addition, Minecraft creators hosted individual stream for charity this past July reaching 33,500 live viewers and over 350,000 video on demand views. The creators played Minecraft live and assisted in educating viewers about the importance of mangroves worldwide and also presented some of the TNC's efforts to protect and restore this important ecosystem.
