Avanos Medical, FDA and Avanos Medical, FDA and the FDA have issued a Class 1 Recall for approximately 629 units of the CORTRAK*2 Ental Access System. This feeding tube device has been associated with multiple deaths and injuries.

The incorrect placement of the nasogastric tube and nasoenteric tube has been the source of more than 60 injuries and 23 deaths since 2015.
The recall serves to update the label of the device so that it can make it clear to users that the tube has been correctly placed before delivering nutrition.
Avanos Medical feeding tube "Adverse instances reported were respiratory failure as well as pneumothorax (collapsed lung), perforation (a hole in the wall of the lung and esophagus as well as the bowel) or pneumonia (a lung infection) and the pleural effusion (excess fluid that is leaking from the lung cavity and chest cavity)," according to the FDA.
