Avanos Medical, FDA and the FDA have issued an Class 1 Recall for 629 units CORTRAK*2 Ental Access System. Avanos Medical feeding tube https://aacnjournals.org/ajcconline/article/26/2/149/3230/Cortrak-Assisted-Feeding-Tube-Insertion-A This feeding tube placement device has been implicated in multiple deaths and injuries.
Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 The devices were affected between April 1 in 2016 and January 1, 2022. https://recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-recall/cortrak2-enteral-access-system-eas These devices are employed by healthcare professionals to insert feeding tubes into the stomachs of patients or their intestines.
Incorrect placement of nasogastric as well as Nasoenteric tube is the cause of the deaths of 23 and injuries to 60 in the last year.
The recall is used to alter the label on the device to inform users to verify that the tube has been properly set up prior to feeding.
