Avanos Medical and the FDA have issued a Class 1 recall of 629 units of the CORTRAK*2 Entral Access System, a feeding tube device that has been responsible for dozens of fatalities and injuries.

Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 The devices are used by health professionals to insert feeding tubes in the stomach or intestines.
Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 Cortrak 2 eternal access system Nasogastric tubes or Nasoenteric tubes that were incorrectly placed have caused more than 60 injuries and 23 deaths reports since 2015.

According to FDA, "Adverse events include pneumothorax, respiratory failure, perforation (a puncture or hole in the lung's wall, esophagus, or the bowel), pneumonia, lung infections, and the pleural effusion ("excess fluid that is accumulating between the lungs and chest cavity),"
