Status Update on the MusicalWolfe Channel
Dear MusicalWolfe Subscribers,
As you may have guessed, I haven't uploaded any video since 2012. I'm not dead and I haven't been declared a zombie, or succumbed to a variety of other cinematic illnesses. I apologize for my abrupt and unexpected absence from YouTube and inform you what you can expect from my channel in future.
Why did you stop making videos?
The short answer is that college was not my main focus. I graduated in December! ) and work (in the US, college doesn't pay for itself) and constructing my portfolio in different ways. At 21 years old I'm still sliding into the tight grip of adulthood. If anyone isn't yet there, be prepared to be mercilessly slapped in the face with Responsibilities and Deciding What You Want to do with your life.
A second reason I decided to stop making videos is that Minecraft does not have the same appeal for me as it did in the past. Just Another Wordpress Site It's an amazing game with a ton of replayability, but like any other game, it offers an enumeration of things to accomplish. I stuck with it even as I was losing energy because I didn't want to disappoint you, but the reality was that towards the end of the game, I had already looked at all the options that interested me.
The final reason I stopped making videos is because it started to look less of a pastime and more of a responsibility or job. I was successful in walling myself in and limiting the kind of videos my subscribers were expecting from me. Towards the end of my initial sprint, I was not comfortable releasing any less than 1:1 ratio of Note Block Songs to other videos, since I wasn't sure whether people would react positively to the end of notes block songs. This leads me to my next point:
Why didn't we hear from you sooner?
Flat answer is that I wasn't sure what you would think of me. YouTube users are a mixed bag and I'm sure that some of the responses could be "That's okay, I like your Note Block Songs, but when you're sick of making them, then you need to stop." Some examples of responses I wouldn't have been prepared to handle in the past would have been "PLEASE keep creating Note Block Songs, they are awesome and if you stop it would make me super sad .(" or "wow no more note blocks? unsubbed".
I've done quite a bit of growth since 2011/2012, and I'd like to believe I'm a lot more robust. If you have something you want to add, whether positive or not, I'll be happy to discuss it in the comments section at the bottom. Please be civil. I really don't know what to expect.
What Now?
I'm planning to restore this channel to its origins. I'm planning to upload music to MusicalWolfe on a regular basis. This will allow me to show off the types of videos I enjoy creating instead of videos that are created to gain the most views or likes. I was actually making napkin calculations towards the end of 2012. I'm effectively returning the channel to its original state, back before the stage light of Machinima and before it became a commercial phenomenon. I will be answering an audience similar to the audience I had in my first that was my initial few hundred subscribers before I even began making Minecraft songs. The people that like my music whether or not it was composed in Minecraft.
It could be described as follows I'm giving my channel a new , overarching purpose. My old goal was to increase views and subscribers, save money for college, and appeal to my subscriber base. My new goal is to share projects I would have completed in the past. I don't expect to put much effort to create content for MusicalWolfe however, I would love to continue sharing new songs as well as other music and gaming oddities in my life.
What all this means, is that there will be two Major Changes to the MusicalWolfe YouTube channel:
Change 1 Change 1: Content Type
My YouTube channel has been focusing on two main staples from 2011 until 2012.
- Minecraft Note Block Songs - Electronic Music and Orchestrated Mixes
At the moment, I don't plan on creating any further notes block songs. However, I do plan to continue creating music with the following caveat.
Change 2 Content Frequency
Since my YouTube uploads will now depend only on my music output, and my music output depends on my other responsibilities/priorities in life (school, work, etc. There will not be a predetermined upload schedule. Whereas before I would generally upload a few videos each month, I now only plan to upload when have some new content to upload. If I go for several months or years without making music, then that means months or years of no uploads. I'm sorry to have to do this, but I have decided that from now on I am going to fit YouTube into my daily routine instead of having to organize my life around YouTube as I did in 2011-2012.
Contact
I am a big advocate for discussion and would like to stress that I will always be available to answer questions and help you get in contact. If you have any questions or comments, either post them below or email me at [email protected]. If the address goes down in the near future you can still reach me by searching my full name on Google (I have been blessed with an unusual address). Thank you for reading and hopefully, you'll have an understanding of the new function (which was actually the initial role) that my YouTube channel has!
Cheers, Maximillian Laumeister
